Kids' Equipment library
Getting the right equipment at the right time can make a huge difference to a child's comfort, participation, independence and quality of life. Unfortunately, for many families, accessing equipment they need can be a complex, lengthy and stressful process involving assessments, reports, funding requests, approvals and long waiting periods.
Treehouse Kids Foundation is working to change that.
With equipment and storage space generously donated by Treehouse Paediatrics, we are developing a Paediatric Disability Equipment Library to help families access quality second-hand equipment when they need it most. Our goal is to create an online catalogue where families can browse available equipment, request items that meet their child's needs, and borrow them for short or longer periods.
The library aims to bridge the gap while families are waiting for NDIS approvals, provide opportunities to trial equipment for longer periods before making major funding requests, and reduce the financial burden of purchasing items that may only be needed for a short time.
We believe no child should miss out on participation, comfort or independence simply because equipment is caught up in funding processes. By keeping quality equipment in circulation and making it easier to access locally, this project helps children and families get the support they need, when they need it.
Paediatric Allied Health Special Interest Groups
Improving outcomes for children requires more than great individual clinicians. It requires connected professionals who are committed to learning, sharing knowledge and continually improving the care they provide. Achieving this in rural and regional areas is so much harder.
Treehouse Kids Foundation provides twice-yearly Paediatric Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in Central and Northern Victoria.
These groups create opportunities for collaboration, peer learning and professional development, helping practitioners stay connected with current evidence, emerging practices and the unique challenges facing children and families in regional areas. By sharing expertise and lived experience, participants can build confidence, strengthen local networks and improve the quality of support available to children and young people.

Supporting Neurodivergent Kids in Community Sport
Sport should be a place where every child feels welcome, included and able to participate in a way that works for them. Yet many neurodivergent children and their families face barriers that make participation in community sport challenging.
In partnership with Sports Focus, Treehouse Kids Foundation is picking up where Treehouse Paediatrics has left off, working to help more neurodivergent children have safe opportunities to participate in community sport. This project focuses on building the knowledge, confidence and capability of sporting clubs, coaches, volunteers and community organisations to create more inclusive sporting environments.
Through education, resources, lived experience input and practical strategies, workshops help clubs understand how small changes can make a significant difference to a child's ability to participate, connect and belong. Rather than creating separate opportunities, the goal is to strengthen mainstream community sport so that neurodivergent children can participate alongside their peers in ways that are meaningful, safe and enjoyable.
This project has been highly successful and we look forward to expanding it beyond the Greater Bendigo and Mount Alexander regions.
Carer support and connection
We are currently engaging with our community around what our families really need. What we are hearing, and have experienced, is that many carer support programs don't quite hit the mark, often because they are designed around assumptions rather than lived experience.
We believe families are the experts in their own lives, and we are working alongside carers to identify the supports, connections and resources that would make the greatest difference and will be genuinely helpful for families navigating the day-to-day realities of caring.
